Residencies

Writer and Translator Residencies:

The long term aim of the Trust is to provide time and space for writers and translators to work.  This will be done through the establishment of a creative and supportive residential environment, based in and around the home of the late Tom McGrath in Fife.

Scottish and international playwrights and translators will have opportunities to be in residence and can work together or independently to develop new plays, new translations and new working relationships.  Applications for residencies are now being encouraged.

The Residencies in brief:

  • A residency will run for up to 7 days in length.
  • Simple and comfortable accommodation will be offered at Ash Villa, Tom and Ella’s home for over 20 years in the small village of Kingskettle, 40 miles north of Edinburgh.  The house is set in a large garden and overlooks the gentle Fife countryside.
  • All meals will be provided to suit the schedule of the residents.
  • A small fee will be provided to each resident artist.
  • Dramaturgical support can be provided, if required, by Ella Wildridge, Tom’s partner and experienced translator and dramaturg.
